Tiny Kwon-Do Dragons

The Dragons programme is designed to help improve attention span, memory, socialisation skills, confidence, courtesy, respect and discipline. Skills that every parent wants their child to learn and above all to have fun, stay safe and be healthy.

White Belt

In order to be eligible for this grading the student must be able to perform:

 

  • Attention stance

  • Parallel ready stance

  • Sitting stance with 5 single punches

  • Sitting stance with 5 rising blocks

  • Sitting stance with 5 middle blocks

  • Sitting stance with 5 low blocks

  • Walking ready stance with 5 rising kicks and double forearm blocks

  • 5 press ups

The student must also know:

  • Their instructor's name and grade

  • Where Taekwon-Do comes from (South Korea)

  • What white belt means in Taekwon-do (White signifies innocence, that of a beginner with no prior knowledge of Taekwon-Do)

Red Stripe

In order to be eligible for this grading the student must be able to perform:

  • Sitting stance with 5 double punches

  • Walking ready stance with 5 snap kicks and double blocks

  • Walking stance with a single punch (moving forwards and backwards)

  • Walking stance with a middle block (moving forwards and backwards)

  • walking stance with a low block (moving forwards and backwards)

The student must also know:

  • What Taekwon-Do means (Tae means jump, kick or smash with foot. Kwon means Punch or destroy with hand. Do means way or art)

  • What the 5 tenets of Taekwon-Do are (Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-control and Indomitable Spirit) 

Blue Stripe

In order to be eligible for this grading the student must be able to perform:

  • Sitting stance with 5 double punches

  • Walking ready stance with 5 turning kicks and double blocks

  • Walking stance with low block and rising block (with same arm) (moving forwards and backwards)

  • L stance with a knife hand side strike (moving forwards and backwards)

  • L stance with a snap kick (front and rear leg) with a guarding block

The student must also know:

  • The Korean word for Block (Makgi)

  • The Korean word for punch (Jirugi)

  • The Korean word for stance (Sogi)

Green Stripe

In order to be eligible for this grading the student must be able to perform:

  • Sitting stance with 5 double punches

  • Walking ready stance with 5 side kicks and double blocks

  • Walking stance with a low block and reverse punch (moving forwards and backwards)

  • Walking stance with a middle block and reverse punch (moving forwards and backwards)

  • L stance with a side kick and a guarding block

  • L stance with snap kick and a guarding block

The student must also know:

  • The Korean for counting from 1 -5 

  • What TSX stands for (Taekwon-Do Schools of Excellence) 

  • The name of the founder of Taekwon-Do (General Choi Hong Hi)

Purple Stripe

In order to be eligible for this grading the student must be able to perform:

  • Sitting stance with 5 double punches

  • Sitting stance with 5 treble punches (1 High, 1 Middle and 1 low)

  • Walking ready stance with 5 axe kicks and double blocks

  • Saju Jirugi (4 directional punching) 

The student must also know:

  • The Korean for attention stance (Charyot Sogi)

  • The Korean for parallel ready stance (Narani junbi sogi)

  • The Korean for Sitting stance (Annun Sogi)

Brown Stripe

The brown stripe is the highest grade within the Tiny Kwon-Do syllabus, meaning that a successful grading after this would result in the student achieving a 9th Kup yellow tag. Click the button below to view the syllabus for the next grading.
